  • UPS and power monitoring
  • Standard Unix toolset
  • Any other additional tools
  • Automatic daily updates of server software

Why do you need a custom server? Well, maybe you don't. Will the default OS installation plus your in-house skills give you what you want? Then that's all you need.

But if you need custom configuration, a non-standard mix of daemons and services, have specialized hardware, or need additional programming or setup, then a custom installation is the solution.
